I knew what I wanted to do early in life. But an unexpected change led me beyond that path to find my passion.
Growing up here in Long Beach, I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher.
When the time came for me to declare my college major, I continued my path as an English major towards becoming a teacher. Soon after graduation, I took a teaching job at a local elementary school. Shortly after the birth of my second son, I made preparations to return to school for my Master’s Degree in education. It was the path I thought I was meant for and worked hard to earn my degree while caring for my young children.
Over time, I was promoted from classroom teaching to an administration role for the school. It was a step up and I thought that was the logical direction to go, so I stayed on that path for several years. When I came upon my fourth year, however, I knew things had to change for me. I felt further and further away from what I had always loved about teaching and education: the people.
Over the next couple months, I debated with myself about my future in education. I had lost the passion I once had and could not face going to work every day at a job that did not fit with who I was.
So, I began to look around for other ideas, and it was around that time I decided to throw my hat in real estate. I had always loved school, as the classes and exams were enjoyable for me, a welcome distraction from my indecisiveness. I planned on using my real estate license to sell our house, which we were moving from at the time. When I did, something completely unexpected happened. I really enjoyed the work.
The next summer when I was on break from work, I thought it would be fun to explore real estate further and after a few more sales, I found something I had not anticipated, passion. By the following summer I was a full-time REALTOR®. The most surprising part was how much I used my experience in education throughout the process, helping others understand the details and teaching them about different aspects of real estate.
I have lived in Long Beach all my life and my family has always played a huge role in my life. Through my work in real estate I realized this was not only a great way to continue to support my family alongside my husband, but to also support the community. Everyone needs a home and once I got started, I used what I learned to help everyone I knew with those big transitions in life, finding their perfect home.
Life as a REALTOR® was everything I could have hoped for and I am thankful every day that I have a job I am truly passionate about. When I have free time, I love spending it with my family, visiting my granddaughters and even just catching up with them on the phone. I am also a huge foodie and cooking has been a lifelong love of mine, it is a great compliment to my other hobby, gardening. Through gardening I have gotten even more involved in my community as the President of Long Beach Organic Inc., a non-profit collection of eight community gardens.
I have been a lifelong student; I believe, as people, we are always growing and learning new things each day. As a teacher, one of my favorite parts has been seeing my students succeed, and that is what I want for my clients. I want to support you through each stage of your life and help you achieve all your wildest dreams.
When you are buying a home, it can be a daunting process and extremely emotional. With decades of experience, I can take care of any unexpected complications. I know how to best prepare you for every scenario.
I take the time with each of my clients to show you all your options and teach you everything you need to know throughout the process.
As a former teacher, I have always enjoyed watching others succeed, and doing so with the tools I have given them. We are all constantly growing and learning, and that is why I make a point to keep expanding my professional knowledge through classes and certifications to best serve your needs.
As a native of Long Beach, I know where things are and can help you find not only the best property, but the best area for you and your family. What matters to me is you, many of my clients I have served for decades, and consider them valued friends. I am invested in your long-term success and support you as you continue to reach all your real estate goals.
With gratitude,
Valerie Condon
